MERU NATIONAL PARK
Meru and the neighbouring Kora, was the home of the Adamson’s where they brought Elsa the lioness and Pippa the cheetah. Both cats lie in marked graves inside the National park. Access to the park is either by road, with the shortest route through Embu and Meru, where you turn off and drive down through the green tea and miraa plantations to Maua. Just before the town, you take ...a signposted left for 30 km along a newly tarmacked road to the Murera Gate. Alternatively, you can opt for the longer but quicker route from Naro moru round the northern slopes of mount kenya and down through Nanyuki for a chance to enjoy the specatculay views along this route. Air kenya also offers daily morning flights to the park. Visitors to the park have a choice of accomodation, from the luxury camps and lodges within the park,to the private campsites and bandas or better yet,KWS offers public campsites from which visitors can choose to stay. During our visit,we stayed at a cosy eco lodge, murera springs eco lodge just outside the parks murera gate
